About Kelly Clinch
My Professional Background
I graduated from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill with a degree in English and Honors in both Literature and Writing. I taught English and Language Arts in Georgia public schools for 15 years and now have been tutoring students privately for even longer. I am Georgia state-certified in ELA for grades 7-12. As a professional educator, I have taught all grade levels of English Language Arts, but my career mainly focused on working with gifted learners in many honors and AP English courses. I spent most of of my 15 years in the classroom working with seniors and that always included guiding them through the college application process, writing recommendations for them, and of course, editing and revising their college essays. It was one of my favorite things to do -- especially when they were admitted to their dream schools! I love working with high school students, especially as a writing coach. Helping students find their voice and confidence as writers is the main goal in my consulting work. Now that I am retired from the classroom, I offer private writing coaching and truly enjoy working with college applicants on their essays and personal statements.
My Hobbies and Interests
Outside of my work, I love reading (of course!), volunteering, playing tennis, and traveling. About ten years ago, I published a children's book and would love to write a few more one day! My three children are out of the nest now, two still in college (Go Heels!) and one graduated and working professionally as an actor in NYC. I live in Dunwoody, Georgia with my husband, our yellow lab Winnie, and one very crazy cat, Rabun.
