About Kelly Clinch...

My Professional Background

I graduated from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill with a degree in English and Honors in both Literature and Writing. Presently, I am taking classes through UCLA to earn a Graduate Certificate in College Counseling. I taught English and Language Arts in Atlanta public school classrooms for 15 years and have been tutoring students privately for even longer. As a professional educator, I have taught all grade levels of English Language Arts, but my career mainly focused on working with gifted learners in many honors and AP English courses. I spent most of my many years in the classroom working with seniors and that always included guiding them through the college application process, writing recommendations for them, and of course, reviewing their college essays. It was one of my favorite things to do, especially when they were admitted to their dream schools! I love working with high school students, especially as a writing coach. Helping students find their voice and confidence is the main goal in my consulting work. Now that I am retired from the classroom, I offer writing coaching, college consulting, and truly enjoy working with college applicants on their applications, essays, and personal statements.

My Hobbies and Interests

Outside of my work, I love reading (of course!), volunteering, playing tennis, and traveling. About ten years ago, I published a children's book and would love to write a few more one day! My three children are out of the nest now, one in graduate school at Oxford, one still in college (Go Heels!), and one working professionally in theater in NYC. I live in Dunwoody, Georgia with my husband and our sweet yellow lab, Winnie.
